Verification of Competency

Verification of Competency (VOC) is an assessment process designed to ensure that an individual possesses the necessary skills and knowledge to safely and effectively operate machinery or perform a specific task in their workplace. This process is typically used to verify that employees are still competent in their roles after initial training or for compliance with industry regulations. At FMS Training, our VOC assessments in Logan and across South East Queensland are conducted by experienced trainers and assessors, ensuring that your staff meets all safety and operational standards.

Verification of Competancy

What is Verification of Competency and Why is it Important?

Verification of Competency, VOC, also known as VOCC- Verification of Current Competency, is a method of assessment that assists employers to meet Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and assures staff are competent to operate equipment or perform a task.

WHS Legislation requires that employers cannot ‘assume an employee is competent’. Most sites in Australia will not deem a worker current against a unit of competency if it is older than 24 months.

A VOC (Verification of Competency) from a 3rd Party training organisation will provide written evidence that an operator has demonstrated the required standard of knowledge and skills to safely and competently operate a particular type of equipment.
